Porsche Win Epic Le Mans 2017 LMP2 Cars Fly

The 2017 edition of the Le Mans 24hr endurance classic, certainly lived up to its status as one of the most unpredictable challenges that manufacturers, teams and drivers face in motorsport.

With LMP1 manufacturer teams from Porsche and Toyota going head to head showcasing their Hybrid technologies, with stela driver line ups, the gloves were off to see if Toyota could avenge the cruel luck that befell them last year, when leading the race with only 5 mins to go the lead Toyota encountered technical issues handing victory to Porsche.

In LMP2 we had some new regs including a new LMP2 class engine supplier, the cars were unbelievably 11 seconds quicker in qualifying than last year, and actually quicker at the end of the mulsane straight than the LMP1 cars.

As the LMP1 entries all hit technical problems with their complicated hybrid systems, it looked unbelievably that an LMP2 car could win outright, and all at Tekdata were very interested in the performance of the Gibson engines fitted in the back of all the LMP2 cars.

Tekdata are proud to be an official supplier to Gibson Technology for engine harness’s, and there is certainly no harsher or demanding environment than the Le Mans 24 Hour race to test the quality and robustness off a manufacturers products and services.

After an hour long pit stop the No 2 LMP1 Porsche of Berhard/Bamber/ Hartley charged back up the field from last place to overhaul the leading LMP2 Jackie Chan DC Racing Oreca of Jarvis/Laurent/Tung with just 70 mins to go to secure outright victory.

Eight of the top ten finishers all used the Gibson engine, which was not only very powerful but extremely reliable, and Tekdata are proud to have supplied harness’s that are used on this quality British built product.
